Australian Embassy Discretionary Fund invites applications
The Australian Embassy invites applications from non-profit organisations (NGOs) in Thailand for projects to be supported under its Discretionary Fund (DF).
The Australian Embassy Discretionary Fund is part of Australia’s overseas development program, with funding provided through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
The Fund is available to community groups and NGOs engaged in development activities in Thailand on a not-for-profit basis. It is primarily aimed at supporting small-scale development projects/activities. Applications cannot be accepted from commercial operations. The maximum funding available per project is approximately Baht 300,000 although most projects funded are between 90,000 - 240,000 Baht.
The emphasis of the program is on alleviating basic humanitarian hardship. Projects eligible for support under the Fund must be of a high developmental impact, oriented towards self-help and be sustainable.
Activities funded will normally be concerned with at least one of the following sectors: community health; children and disadvantaged groups; education; small-scale infrastructure; and environment.
Eligible activities would normally be implemented over a relatively short period of time and of not more than one year.
Initial applications must be received by the Embassy before COB 8 September 2008.
