Australian Education International (AEI):
-
manages and maintains the offshore Government-to-Government relationship in the education and training field; and
-
undertakes generic marketing of Australian education and training, including that of schools, TAFE and private business colleges, English language colleges and universities;
-
works through its International Network to represent Australia's education, science and training interests overseas. This International Network comprises a combination of diplomatically accredited personnel and locally engaged staff in 19 locations across 14 countries i.e. Belgium, Chile, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, People's Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE, USA, and Vietnam.
In Thailand, Australian Education International: -
developing government-to-government ties including working on bilateral education reform projects in Thailand;
-
raising the profile in Thailand of Australian education and training through promotion, building relationships, advancing the recognition of Australian qualifications and standards of Australian education, research and training capacity;
-
supporting the Australian education industry through undertaking generic promotion, identifying opportunities for collaboration between Thai and Australian institutions, facilitating market entry for Australian providers, providing quality information to industry, providing guidelines for assessment of education qualifications in Thailand;
-
supporting multilateral engagement to advance Australia’s position on education and related issues;
-
maintaining alumni database and supports activities of the alumni networks in Thailand.

Some of these education cooperation projects include:

the reform of the Thai vocational education and training system;

assistance in the reform of school management;

assistance in developing the National Qualification Framework in Thailand;

Thai school Principal's management training;
-
Thailand-VET Capacity Building: Establishment of Multi Campus Institutes;
-
student and academic exchanges including sister school relationships program;
-
Development of the Co-operative Research Centre model in Thailand;
-
Exchange of expertise and capacity building on curriculum and professional development for TESOL teachers in schools;
-
scholarships for academics and students;
-
professional development training for senior university administrators;
-
Thai university administrators' shadowing project; and
-
capacity building in the use of information and communication technologies by school teachers (in mathematics and science).
In Thailand, Australian Education International also looks after the Australian Government's role in the South East Asian Ministers of Education Organisation, the International Labour Organisation (training issues only) and UNESCO.
Australian Education International also operates Australian Education Centres to provide generic information to students, parents, Governments and institutions.
